How to Fix Poor iPhone SE Performance

The iOS 11.1.2 version is evaluated to be the most stable iOS 11 version, but some iPhone SE users are complaining about the performance issues such as freezes, lag, and random reboots on their device.

If your iPhone SE starts to get lag or frequently reboot itself, you don’t need to worry as there are always solutions to solve your these issues. In this post, we’ll share with you a few tricks to fix the performance issues on your iPhone SE after the iOS 11.1.2 update.

Delete Unused Apps

If there is a ton of data on your device’s storage, such as photos, videos, apps,  they can slow down your iPhone SE. So, you should remove the rarely used to free up space and improve the performance.

To do this, go to Settings > Storage. Here you will have a detailed look at the apps taking up space on your phone. Go down the list and decide which apps you should delete.

Stop Your Auto Downloads

Automatic updates are very useful to keep your apps and services updated to the latest version. However, this feature can also slow down your phone.

If you don’t mind updating your apps manually from the App Store,  you should disable the Automatic Downloads feature on your device and check if you get a boost. To do so, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. After that,  toggle Updates off. You can turn it back on every time you want.

Reduce Animations

Toning your iPhone SE’s animations down could help you improve the performance. If the animations on your device get slow, just go to Settings > General > Accessibility and enable Reduce Motion.

You should also reduce the transparency and blur effects on your phone. To do so, navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility> Increase Contrast and turn Reduce Transparency on.

Although it’s only a small trick, it will absolutely improve the performance.

Kill Background Refresh

If you have already turned on Background App Refresh, you can keep your apps updated with fresh data. If you don’t want apps to work in the background, you can turn the feature off. You can shut it off completely or turn it off on a case-by-case basis.

To make the thing done, navigate to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and disable Background Refresh. If you can also scroll down to your list of apps and toggle them off or only one by one.

Reset All Settings

If none of above methods work, you should reset your device’s settings to the factory defaults. To do so, move to Settings > General > Reset and choose Reset All Settings at first line.

But before proceeding, make sure you have the Wi-Fi passwords handy in case you iPhone SE forgets the connections.

Downgrade To Lower Version

If you see the current iOS 11.1.2 version is make your iPhone SE run badly, you can downgrade to an older version that is still signing. First, download the compatible firmware from here and then use iTunes to make the downgrade. Make sure to back up all your data first.
