Tutorial to Use Night Shift on your iPhone or iPad

Night Shift is a new feature that Apple added from iOS 9.3 version, which automatically adjusts the color temperature of your iPhone or iPad screen based on the time of day so that it makes the screen yellower or warmer at night. And it can also help you sleep and stay asleep better. Here is how to use the Night Shift mode on your iPhone/iPad.

How to Set Night Shift from sunset to sunrise

If you just want to use the Night Shift from sunset to dawn, you can do it by flipping a few simple switches in settings.

  • Launch Settingsfrom your iPhone/iPad’s screen.
  • Tap on Display & Brightness.
  • Select Night Shift.
  • Toggle the switch next to Scheduled
  • Tap From/To, if it doesn’t already display Sunset/Sunrise
  • Select Sunset to Sunrise.

Sunrise and Sunset times depend on your location, the same with the Weather app. So if you have any problems with the timing, you should double check your location settings.

How to set Night Shift on a custom schedule

If you feel the timing from sunset to sunrise too early or too late in the day for you, set any other static times you like.

  • Go to the Settings.
  • Tap on Display & Brightness.
  • Select Night Shift.
  • Turn Scheduled
  • Choose From/To.
  • Tap on Custom Schedule.
  • Select Turn On At.
  • Now spin the selector vertically to set the on time you want.
  • Continue to tap on Turn Off At.
  • Spin the selector vertically to choose the off time.

How to set Night Shift at any time

If you don’t want to use the Night Shift on a scheduled time, you can also choose to manually enable Night Shift at any time you want.

  • Launch Settingsfrom your Home screen.
  • Tap on Display & Brightness.
  • Select Night Shift.
  • Tap on Manually Enable Until Tomorrow.

Night Shift will now turn on until the next day. If you want to use it again, simply enable it manually again or set up a schedule.

How to turn off Night Shift

If you don’t want to use the Night Shift, at least for now, you can easily disable it.

  • Launch Settingsfrom your Home screen.
  • Tap on Display & Brightness.
  • Tap on Night Shift.
  • Toggle the switch next to the Scheduled
  • Turn Manually Enable Until Tomorrow

Night Shift will turn off till you toggle one of those switches back on.
